Bento is a LTO Field Assistant and initially joined us through our Ocean Conservation Champion Project (OCC). After joining our swimming project at age 17, with his determined and dedicated attitude he progressed quickly to our advanced swimming class. He enrolled in our OCC project, learning English, finishing high school, completing his PADI Advanced Scuba certification. Bento is now a qualified swimming teacher and lifeguard helping coordinate our swim project with Pascoal and teaching children to swim. Bento’s enthusiasm for the ocean is crucial in his work with Love The Oceans and influences everyone surrounding him. Recently, Bento featured in a short film about his journey with swimming and the importance of swimming as a tool for ocean conservation in our area.
